First Light - A Twelve Session Study of the Historical Jesus and the Kingdom of God
Join biblical scholars John Dominic Crossan and Marcus Borg as they journey throughout Galilee and Jerusalem. This DVD series addresses questions such as:
Why did Jesus happen when he happened?
Why the tiny villages around the lake?
What were the priorities of Jesus' proclamation of the Kingdom?
How was the status quo of Roman imperial theology subverted by this obscure Galilean
whose message continues to indict empire today?
Beginning on Tuesday, January 5, we will meet at 7:00 p.m. in the church library to view this intriguing new video. Please contact Harriet Barringer (673-3743) if you have questions.

The Thoughtful Christian - This Sunday School class meets every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Library. Each week we discuss studies or topics published online by the Westminster John Knox Press which is the publishing house of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The studies cover a wide range of topics which include: spirituality, Christian living, Bible and theology, popular culture, contemporary issues and items in the news. The purpose of the class is to help Christians wrestle with difficult questions by stimulating informed conversation and reflection about living faithfully in a complex world. Visitors are welcome. Discussion leaders are Will Akers and Dale Van Laningham.

First Wednesday Worship - Come and join us for worship on the First Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The music and the design for these evening worship services come from the Iona Community in Scotland and the Taize Community in France which is known for its beautiful meditative songs. We hope that this worship service will help you to slow down for a minute and allow the deep and wondrous power of silent prayer to heal whatever is in need of God's presence.
